Well Lavoy it has been up around 70 deg the last three days here in Texas but apparently you let a little of the cold back out and tomorrow is only supposed to get to near 50. Were you enjoying it so much you wanted to spread it around??

Lavoy-
When you say a hi of Zero all I can think of is the comedian Ron White .. "Aparently we don't have a temperature!"
Keep all the cool air up there... it's 43 right now here and that's plenty cool for us in the asphalt business.

Alot of the cold from Lavoy's way is spilling into the northeast. We had actual low temps all week from 5 above to 5 below with wind of 10-20 mph it brings the wind chill down to -20 -30 range and highs from of 5 to 20 above. Our local schools had 2 hr delayed starts all week so the kids do not get frostbite waiting for the school buses. Up in NY and and New England the temps were even lower.

Well on Tuesday/Wednesday of this week we finally received our first decent snow for this winter in Eastern PA. Tuesday night we had 3-4 inches of snow before it changed to sleet for 3-4 inches than it changed back to snow for another 3-4 inches. The sleet made it tough going unless you had 4wd or tracks. It actually shut down 3 of our interstates (I-78 for 50 miles, I-81 for about 40 miles and I-80 for another 40 miles). They opened I-80 today and are going to try to open I-78 and I-81 tonight or sometime tomorrow. I will probably push some snow with the 440IC at our farm and post pictures Sunday night.

In addition to the bitter cold we've had around 24 inches of snow this season down here in Western MO, which has been pretty uncommon over the last decade or so. We've had snow cover basically for the last month. Unfortunately each snow event was preceded by freezing rain/sleet, so there is a nice dangerous ice layer under the snow cover. We've been in a drought the last few years, so this is really turning things around for the farmers.
We're supposed to have 50s to 60s all next week, so it shouldn't last long for us.

Have you caught up on your snowfall totals yet?

We got a little over 5" of fairly wet snow over the weekend. Figures, the ground was almost open everywhere here, and then it snows. They are talking another one coming tomorrow, so who knows. They really caught it SE of us, anywhere from 9" to I heard 24" in SE Minnesota.
To make matters worse, I am crawlerless right now, so had to use the neighbors 3020 to push the snow around. Of course if you tell anyone I used something with wheels on it to push snow, I will of course deny it.

Hi,
I have my dozer all set up for plowing with the gauge shoes on the blade, and all it's had to push all winter is - Composted Mulch. 60+ cu yds of Composted Mulch, which is two semi-dump trailer loads worth to be sure, but only mulch. No snow. And I was looking forward to showing the neighbors how a dozer handles a foot of snow, dang it all anyway!
I keep telling my mom, who still lives in the Adirondacks, to send down a foot or two, but all that keeps happening is our rain wanders up there and becomes Yet More Snow for her!

Well, I went to the farm and got my brothers 420 with a 62 blade and 8G Gearmatic on the back. Wife calls before I even get home and tells me that our driveway is blocked by a pickup and horse trailer. I get home to a 30' horse trailer hooked to a crew cab dually laying off the side of my neighbors driveway in the landscape rock. How in the hell he thought he could get 50 feet of pickup and trailer up their 16' driveway is beyond me, but trust me, he couldn't. He had a tow truck there trying to lift the trailer out of the ditch and then he was trying to back it up. He was sitting on the apron spinning the tires so much that he had smoke coming off of the duals and could not figure out he was not going to be able to move. After a half an hour of not being able to get in my place, I told the tow truck driver to get out of the way. Backed the 420 up to the back of his trailer, spooled out a few feet of cable and hooked it under the back end of his horse trailer. I looked at the guy and told him that me and his trailer are going that way whether he likes it or not, put it in nuetral and just follow the trailer. I put it in second, locked the brake on the winch, and pulled it right out, skidded the trailer sideways in line with the driveway, unhooked and left. I bet he had $200 into that tow truck, and it took me 2 minutes with a 50 year old crawler to get him out.
