homemade track press
homemade track press
Not exactly sure how but I am soon to begin on a homemade track press. Want it small enough to do the old 350 Deere but large enough to handle my Case 850B loader. Any Ideas.
Do a search on this board on the topic. If what you read isn't enough to talk you out of it, let me personally say that making a home built track press is an excellent way to get seriously injured or killed. I had the chance to watch a track press in operation this last summer and any thought I ever had of building one was finished at that point. The kicker was that the press I saw was small by modern standards and it still leaves you with a heck of an impression watching the pins break free on an old track.

I have already put pins and bushings in my deere 350 once with a 90 ton shop press took a while but worked. Put pins and bushings in my case 350 with a log splitter and a few shop built attachments. I own a machine shop and welding shop and work for mining industry with unlimited availability to hydraulic surplus. The question is not can I build a track press but what would be a good design. But I guess I will use maybe a Berco for reference. Thanks anyway.
Given that you know the risks, the WTC stuff might be a good reference as well. Their web site is www.wtcmachinery.com. Pay particular attention to the safety features. Best of luck.
