My Birthday Present

Post by bighamlin » Fri Jan 18, 2008 9:58 pm

My birthday isn't until March, but my wife just couldn't wait to tell me so here it is. A trip by myself to Moline (JD heaven). I am blessed to have such a great wife who lets me build massive barns and fill them with New Generation JD's.

On a side note, one of my daughters was looking at new parts for assembly and said "look Daddy, there is my new dresser, bed..."

Here's a picture of my girls

Paul, Try this. I removed the ?t=1200714540 from your link and it seemed to work.

Thanks Brad,

That was simple to fix.

Paul,
I spent thousands of hours on 4020's like that. We still have Dad's that he bought new in 69. Someday when it isn't working for a living, I would like to doll it up like that.

Mine also is a 69. That one was my first real restoration. I grew up on a 500 acre fresh green bean farm in North Florida with 4 pivots and we used a 65 4020 to pull a 8 row planter. I always remembered that as being my favorate tractor, even behind the much bigger cab 145 Versatile. I was just born a JD nut.

The 4020 in the picture does get dirty, I use it to pull a PTO air blast sprayer in the grove.

I hope you get the chance to do your 4020, they are a real classic.

The one we have is the first tractor I really spent much time on. I remember plowing with a 5-16" plow, and being little enough that I could lay crosswise on the seat and watch the furrow wheel out the one window with my head on the RH armrest of the seat. It now has over 8,000 hours on it, and never been touched except for a clutch, starter, and two injectors. It is still in use today, but not as a main power tractor.
