I have a diesel motor, Perkins 1006 to be exact on a pump unit. It is in need of rebuild I'm sure, but was wondering if anyone has ever hooked up a motor in need of rebuild to a dyno to see just how much less the hp output is? just currious cause I don't have a dyno. Output new is 104hp at 1800 rpm, but based on pump curve it is probably only putting out about 70hp and wont make full rpm anymore, will a worn out motor realy put out that much less in terms of actual hp?
Thanks
Paul

To be off 30% would seem to me to be more than just engine wear. If you are off that much, it should be killing mosquitoes for a 10 mile radius with the blue smoke. I kind of wonder if you should look at pump and injectors first.
