It would be handy to know how they change them to semis I have a few rifles around but always figured you southerners had the better and cheaper gun selection down south of the 49 Th. I found we got a lot of the Harvester build M1 units for our so called army but they have probably been sold to some third world country 20 years ago at this point ,Up here they called my wife and asked her if I should have possession of a new 270 Winchester I just bought. Then they proceeded in asking her if I was sane and sober [I was standing in the gun shop 15 miles down the road how could. she tell if I was sober !!] I guess I did pass the sanity part any way ,Digitup.

Lavoy,
Another M1A showed up. It's on the trapshooters.com forum. $1600.00, brand new Springfield, match barrel, 2 mags.

Yeah, local guy has a barely used on the shelf for $1200. I have kind of given up on the idea for now. Not really a lot of sense having something that probably only I am going to shoot, whereas the kids will shoot the heck out of a new .22. I ordered a GSG-5SD last week, should be here tomorrow, hope to go to the range on Sunday.

OK Lavoy. I have to show my ignorance. What is a GSG-5SD? Also, You are still welcome to come down and shoot my m-14. I'm only about 1800 miles southeast of you! And bring the trencher. Pat

It is a .22 caliber copy of an HK MP5 suppressed sub-machine gun, but in semi-auto. In fact, it is such a good copy that HK sued them, and it is not longer in production in the model I bought.

I'm not making this a political discussion, but you may be interested in this news article about our government refusing to reimport our country's M1 Garands and carbines previously loaned to South Korea:

It would be awfully nice if the State Department changed its mind and we had a whole new supply available :)

I had read that there was a group of 50-60,000 Garands coming in to CMP, but don't remember where I read that.
