OK, so I pulled my factory service manual for my 1987 GMC medium duty truck (manual covers the 4500, 5000, 6000, and 7000 series trucks). I did not see a Deere 6359 engine listed for the medium duty trucks- the following engines were available:

Gas
GM 4.8L L6
GM 5.7L V8 (350 cid)
GM 6.0L V8 (366 cid)
GM 7.0L V8 (427 cid)

Diesel
GM (Detroit Diesel) 8.2N
GM (Detroit Diesel) 8.2T
Deutz BF6L913
Caterpillar 3208
Caterpillar 3208T

This is specifically for 1987 GMC/Chevy medium duty trucks, so it is possible a Deere engine was used by GM for a heavy duty truck or for a year other than 1987. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
