Hello to you all, I thought I should introduce my self. I like to work on motors, and rummage through scrapyards. I am new to crawlers, but always wanted to own one, since I was a kid. I have none, but I am searching. I seem to have gravitated to things that run on steel instead of rubber. I work on railroad diesel locomotives. I am looking for a 440ICD w/ Loader. I have been looking for a while for one in Pennsylvania, and havent had any luck. I found this site, and thought it would be a good idea to join. I really enjoy the photo section and all the info here. It is a great site! Thank you for letting me join!

Thank you, Eric! I have a haunch I came to the right place for help finding a crawler. It looks like I just missed a nice 440 that was at Wenger's Equipment, which is close to where I live. I dont know if it was diesel or not though. There is something very appealing about JD crawlers that other ones dont have. Im not sure what it is, but I am hooked! I look forward to interacting with the group. Thanks again! Take care. Sam

The 440IC loader at Wengers was a gas model.
It looked good, ran good but had a weld on the loader frame that had been re welded several times and was cracked again.
I don't know what the problem was, the rest of the machine looked in good shape, not abused.
Keep looking, what you want is out there.
I found just what I wanted, a 440IC gas with a 6' model 63 blade and 3pt in about 4 months.
You never know!

Thank you, Dave and Lavoy! I was originally looking for a 1010, but after I drove my uncle's JD 435 tractor, I really liked the 2-53 detroit. That is what changed my mind to look for a 440 instead. The detroit is like a miniature version of the same motor I work on in the locos at work. They operate the same, both 2 stroke, even both GM products! Anyhow, thank you both for the info and the support. Sam
