HMM just thinking about trading in my 2010 for Wheels

Post by Ashell » Fri Mar 05, 2010 4:53 pm

I have a 2010 gasser with a drott 4 in 1 bucket and model 50 hoe. The engine runs great no smoke it has a little troubles in reverse the tracks and sprockets are ok not really sure bout anything less obvious. If it sets awhile you have to clean the plugs before she will start. I paid 7000 but realize I over paid a little. I bought this toy to do a little dirt work to build a house and with the current economy I have been able to find a house for less than I can build. I guess I am getting closer to the point now. The place I am buying is 3 acres and theres room for a garden a decent yard to mow and a 250' driveway to be cleared of snow. I really love to tinker with my toys but a crawler is way more than I need. Does any one have a suggestion of a tractor that is small, has a 3 point hitch, Pto, and that might be equal in price? I am thinking of selling my crawler and buying a tractor but would perfer to trade and honestly know little about small tractors.
Thank in Advance
Alan Shell

The neighbor and I had a 430W, 3PT and live PTO for many years. We used ir for just what you are thinking, and it worked great. Either a 420 or 430 woud work fine for what you want to do. If live PTO is not a concern, then a 40 could be added to the list. There were a lot of these tractors made, you see them all the time from $4000-$8000 depending on condition and options.

Another thought would be a MFWD compact utility tractor...I just bought a JD 650 MFWD (still a 2 cyl  ) with a loader and a couple of attachments..low hours..for under $6000.00. Works great for what I'm doing...Still have the MC for the tough jobs.

Yes, that is a good answer too, I was only thinking of older stuff. We actually sold the 430W and bought a 790 4WD last year, love it to death. The power is good, but it is only half the tractor the 430 was as far as mass. Even with the 4WD, the 430 would have drug it all over the place.

Thank you for all the ideas I have some thing to think about now. I think I am gonna lean toward the older collectable side.

Thank you
Alan
