The Red River

Post by JD440ICD2006 » Sun Mar 21, 2010 8:14 pm

Lavoy,

I just read where the Red River has crested below the defense wall levels and is not likely to flood anything. That is great news!

Yes, level is dropping right now. Unless we get a significant rainfall, should be out of the woods here. The Red at Grand Forks is predicted to crest well below what they can easily protect, but North of there and in to Canada, it could be a different story. There was more snow North of me, so that changes things. The problem here right now is the Sheyenne river, it is at record levels, and jumped about a foot and a half yesterday by my place. We're guessing there is an ice jam some place that caused it. Lots of people from just North of West Fargo all the way to where the Sheyenne dumps into the Red are fighting high water yet, but have not heard of too many losing the fight.
