ROYER TOPSOIL SHREDDER---ROCKFORD PTO

Post by tuney443 » Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:38 am

Hi everyone--it's been a while.I'm looking for an old Royer shredder, either model 360 or 362 for a parts machine or an old Rockford PTO, model PTA-5871. This would be from the early 60's,the Royers are painted red,the Rockford PTO, besides being used on Royers were on many different stationary engines, usually the Wisconsin V4GD.Specifically,I need the shaft that is in that PTO and of course I needed it yesterday.ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Had to bite the bullet. Ordered a new shaft--$600---It looks like it should be at most $200. It's only about 12'' long,1.25'' dia. Now probably I'll get deluged with everyone telling me they have an old Rockford PTO or Royer rotting away in their boneyard. Murphy's Law.

Royer is up and running--can't say enough good things about Dave Kloner over at Kloner's Supply in Akron,Ohio and enough bad things for the pompous, arrogant Dr. Diesel over at Foley Engines in either Ct. or Ma.

Hi,

No. Not really. Just kidding!

I had to, given the way you were looking for such a post! :P

I used to live in Milan, though I used Red Hook because 80% of the folks living in Dutchess County have no clue where in heck Milan is!

Your sig is interesting. You have a 440 with 420 decals, I take it.

And, what is that about a mastodon skull?

Of course I know where Milan is.Gravel country, that's why Red Wing Sand and Gravel just started their huge mine there.I figured you were kidding, but somebody wii probably come forward sooner or later to tell me they have an old Royer.I have a 440ICD with a 831 loader with actually no decals.I just don't know how to change the sig. as I'm not too computer literate. No big deal. The mastodon in Hyde Park that was found at the Loziers pond in 2000 is the youngest mastodon ever found on the planet. 12,000 years young.I was the excavator doing logistical work for PRI,the scientific group doing the dig.The entire skeleton including the 7' long tusks were unearthed by hand on the pond bottom, minus the skull.I was given a laborer with a shovel to try and find the skull at the tail end of the dig in September as the dig had to come to a close.I found it within 15 minutes, pure luck,my claim to fame. The big guy is the show piece up in Utica,NY at PRI's Museum of the Earth.Type in Hyde Park mastodon on the net for more reading if you're interested. They never did give me credit for finding the skull, which I'm trying to rectify. They never gave it to anyone else either, all very strange.

Hi,

Yes, the West side of Milan has a lot of gravel. One of my old fire dept. buddies used to run Rock City Sand & Gravel on the West edge of town. I lived on the East edge, right next door to Wilcox Park. No gravel over there, just a lot of shale!

Veddy interesting about that skull. How neat is that? The credit issue does seem odd to me. Give no one credit? I've heard of incorrect credit on such things, a lot actually, but never heard of no credit at all. Hope you get that straightened out....

Your sig says 440 with 831 plus that part about it not being a 420. Oh, wait. I bet you mean the tag on the left-hand side near the avatar photo/graphic. That now says '430 crawler' for you. Mine now says '1010 crawler'.

That's not changeable. It's an indicator of number of posts, each in a range, that you've made. It's part of the board software. I don't know the range of each off the top of my head, but the board software lets the tag names be customized.

On this board, a new poster starts out as an 'MC Crawler'. As one posts, it changes to '40 Crawler', then 420, 430, 440, 1010 and so on.

I don't know exactly where it all ends, either. I thought it might change again at 500 posts. I went and looked at another user with over 500 and it still says '1010 Crawler'.

That might be the end, or it might change at 1000 posts to '350 Crawler' for all I know. I don't know anyone with over 1000 posts other than Lavoy, and his says 'Administrator' so that didn't help me. :P

Okay, just to please Stan  I added another rank. Honestly, Jeremy set the ranks up when he built the board, and I had not really looked at it til now. Most of this stuff I am too puter illeterate to do anything about, but I did find the rankings and added 350 crawler at 500 posts.

Hi,

Ha! Well, now that's pretty cool, that is!

Honestly, I hadn't paid any attention to those tags since I first came on here. It *is* a cute idea to label them in crawler order.

I don't know much about the ins and outs of board software, other than knowing that most boards have tags that operate on a sliding scale and that they are customizable.

Now, this is ironic: This particular post will be my 440th one.

I should have noted when I posted my 420th one, though.

Tuney,
That part of the Avitar(40,420,430,440 etc.) automaticly changes when you hit certain numbers of posts. So you go up in crawler number the more you post.
