What's the term?
What's the term?
Probably a dumb question to many, but I see dozers designated as LP, or LPG, (example 450 LPG). What do these terms signify?

I am pretty sure that "LPG" is Deere's designation for a low ground pressure dozer. Digitup can verify since he is well-versed in operating dozers in swampy areas.
As for "LP", when talking about the old generation dozers it could signify propane fuel operation.
It really depends on model discussed and context.

Hi,
There's an 'LT' designation, meaning Long Track.
If you meant 'LT' instead of 'LP'.....
I don't need *any* fingers to count the number of Liquid Petroleum gas powered crawlers I've seen, as I have yet to see LP number one on a crawler. I have seen LP powered wheel tractors, though.
Back to the tracks, I don't think they make a standard track any longer. I think the current choices are Long Track, or Low Ground Pressure. Where LGP has wider pads than LT does.....
later!

420's were powered by Liquified propane. So some of them were LP & gas.

On the newer Deeres you will find LGP- low ground pressure [usually longer tracks.extra roller , wider drives and wide grousers ] LT- an extra roller standard drives and longer track .WT- wide grousers on the wide LGP drives[Deere also uses this configuration with standard grousers on the LGP drives for side hill stability option ]there are very few XLT- extra long track out there but these are Two extra roller and the front idler moved forward even further than the long track .Older 750s and 850s in standard track was the only way you could get them [Late seventy's early eighty's models]most operators complained about the tracks being two short so Deere added four grousers and a roller and called them 750LT and 850LT [But they didn't sell them any other way ] When I ordered my first 750 I had to wait for several weeks to get one and could only order a 750LT Now that is confusing isn't it !You will see the change and configurations if you go to the serial number section .Digitup.
That is nothing we have a worker that thought we were serious about calling the old 850 B LT- bacon lettuce and tomato and from the day I bought it we always called it that! After several weeks of working with us he finally asked why that had anything to do with dozers ?What do you call a B series that is a LT anyway? These are the men that call a 580K Case backhoe a 58- ok! .Digitup.

Hi,
And, if you have a propane powered, B-series, with long tracks and low ground pressure, you have:
a LPG BLT LGP!
EIEIO!!
