In addition the 580 I ask about earlier I am also doing steering clutches on a International crawler.
The new fiber disks are a bit thicker than the old ones so when I put the clutch pack together the last disk will not go down over the hub. If I leave out one of the metal plates the height is just right.

This leaves two fiber disks together. I cannot think of any reason that would be a problem.

Can anyone else know a reason that it would not work that way?

It will definitely work, you will have just lost two friction surfaces with the loss of the steel.

Are you working on a 100 series Harvester crawler loader.if you are make sure the steel's are flat not warped and the friction plates are smooth .We did one last winter and had to wire buff the frictions a bit to make it fit.It can be a wee bit of a tight fit puttin the clutch pack together.Digitup.
