First time showing a tractor at a show

Post by JD40c » Tue Aug 14, 2012 7:12 pm

A good friend of mine said he was taking his '36 International truck to a truck show and that some tractors might be there, and he encouraged me to take my crawler. He lined up a gooseneck trailer for me to use so I loaded up the 40C and the JD E 1-1/2HP stationary engine I have. Even though the blade isn't correct on the crawler, it was neat meeting lots of people, many of who had memories of driving crawlers on a farm when they were growing up. Folks liked the JD E as well.

The Great Oregon Steam-Up a few weeks back didn't have a single running JD crawler so I think I'll remedy that next year :-)

It is funny, no matter where you take a crawler, someone stops to look at it. I have had people come over to me a gas stations more times than I can remember and ask questions about whatever crawler I had with at the time.

I know what you mean Lavoy I was bringing the nicest 1010 I ever bought original paint and very few scratches on it back from Sault Ste Marie Ont .I went on the ferry at South Bay Mouth I was horded by on lookers and we kind of conducted a auction on the float right in the bottom of the Chichimaun .There were three people bidding on it at one time The Captain of the Chichimaun made it official .Before we got to Tobermorey it was sold . That's as close to home as I got with that dozer before it was sold .I delivered it several miles south of Owen sound and went home without a dozer on the float that night .That is the way it goes when you got a good looking John Deere crawler!!.Digitup.

The Great Oregon Steam-Up is the last weekend of July and first weekend of August, back to back weekends. It's located in Brooks Oregon, a few miles North of Salem, just off of I-5.

I went to the Steam Up for the first time this year. Already planning to go next year. Lots of John Deere wheel tractors. The only JD crawler I saw was the non running Lindeman. If I had more time, I'd be tempted to drag my MC over the hill.....but this time of year I do good to get away for one day.

A bit to far for me. I was hoping it was more to the east side of the state.

Yeah. That Lindeman sitting there made me sad. It's been there for a number of years.
