Threshing Bee

Post by Little John » Tue May 30, 2006 8:36 pm

Never been to a Threshing Bee, but I suspect it is a good gathering. I can't make it to Amana Colonies, although I hear it is THE place to be. Anyone going...Please take pics and post them if you can. I'll try to save up the gas bucks for Sept 9-10, for 400 or so more miles to ND at Lavoy's.....
Lavoy, Did I hear an invitation in your message?? I don't want to 'impose' on your 'local family' and neighborhood get together, but assume that Horace and environs have lots of motel rooms available at that time of the year. Mora
PS Still don't have that last 'd___' dowel bolt out !! The 1/2" x 20 tpi roller and rock guard bolts are also quite challenging for a novice....but I'm winnin' ..so far. Hope the planes are up to it, because, my wife says she wants to do some wing walking that she didn't get done back in '62 !!! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Absolutely, come on up. Anyone that wants to come is welcome to. The farm is about 50 miles West of me, but there are probably 20 motels within 10 miles of my house, and a real nice new motel in between here and the farm. We usually spend all day Saturday (and several weekends prior) working on crawlers and tractors, threshing and plowing is on Sunday. It is no fancy show, so don't get your hopes up too high, but there is dirt to plow or push, and fun to be had.

You know, the 400th used was on April 24th, that is 100 members in barely over two months. At this rate, we will have to have a REALLY big bash next Spring for the 1,000th member.

Hi,

Whoo Hoo Hoo! Number 500 is here! Let the Trac-Trac-Tor party Begin!

Yeah, I know. Trac-Trac-Tor isn't a Papa Deere name, but I've always liked the way it rolls off the tongue! :P

Just goes to show that when you mention "crawlers", "threshing" and, "...some place with lots of food, good looking women, booze, gambling..." they come out of the woodwork! :D

p.s. Lavoy...were you ever a Chrysler salesman???

Nope, did sell Deere for a few years though.
Okay, I can provide the threshing, cookies and Kool-Aid, ground to work, crawlers and tractors to drive. NOW, you guys have to bring the booze, women and gambling (not necessarily in that order), oh yeah, and a place to hide from the "other" good looking women in out lives so we can have a party. Okay, if the women are good looking enough, I might ever spring for the booze too.
