Sugaring 2013

Post by Paul Buhler » Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:44 pm

Finishing off the last batch of maple syrup for the year. It's been running well this week here in Killington; some of my neighbors (commercial producers) are having a record season.

I do this as an annual event with just 35 taps - enough for family and friends. This number of taps keeps it fun most days - a good run means lots of lugging and boiling into the wee hours.

Almost everything's cleaned and ready to put away. 7 gallons of Grade A fancy, light amber, dark amber and some Grade B for cooking. Now on to the other Spring chores.
