superbowl, so what

Post by townlineterry » Sat Feb 01, 2014 7:11 am

I am going to say something down right unAmerican here. I will not watch the superbowl, have not bet on it and the outcome is meaningless. In fact I find all sports meaninless.
This probably goes back to highschool in Pittsburgh where football was like a religon and the jockstraps were a priveliged class. In the spirit of full disclosure I ask a cheerleader for a date and was butally shot down. For a cheerleader to date anyone other than a jockstrap was social suicide. So probably some lingering resentment.

Anybody else with me?

Terry

I do have to say I have met some very nice cheerleaders and former cheerleaders over the years, so as a group I don't have anything against them. Just seems like the ones from my highschool were especially nasty. The one who shot me down COULD have lied and said something like "no thank, but I have a boyfreind, or have to visit my sick grandmother, or I am diying from some terrible disease and don't want to get in a relatiosnship right now."

No, she made a gaggin sound and said,"I'd rather be dead than go out with you." Imagine how that affectted a sensitive 17 year old lad. Then to see the clown she went to that dance with, just because he had a letter jacket, well I'm not the one who liked to play with balls.

Not much on ball sports but in a couple weeks in Daytona there will be a bunch of people turning left.

Super Bowl?

Post by JimAnderson » Sun Feb 02, 2014 1:55 pm

If you listen to the security precautions for the Super Bowl you'd think
there was a world summit.Eighty thousand people will be protect by national guard, hundreds of state troopers with snipers on the roof tops.
The average Nascar race has over eighty thousand in the stands and
you don't hear the hype over the security at them.I know that the Boston
Marathon changed a lot of things for us all but if the game was cancelled
we could sit back and watch the never ending drivel about the stupid
rodent in Pa on the Weather Channel.JimAnderson

I use to feel the same way about the stuck up cheer leaders from my high school days until; after not going to any of my high school reunions, my lovely wife and I recently attended the 50th. Have mercy. Time has made a hell of a change in all of them. Ugly and wrinkled is an understatment. I'm thankful now that the few I asked out then, would'nt go when I think of what could have been.

Heard a news story on the radio. Peyton Manning was whining about loseing the super bowl, the emotional trauma and how will he ever get over it.

Don't be such a girlie Manning, I got over my first marraige [to a non cheerleader] you can get over losing a silly football game.
Over paid primadonna.

Speaking of ageing cheerleader, one of those and her husband owned the camp just up the road from our house. She was a college cheerleader. 25 years ago when we bought our farm she was quite the looker. But, after 25 years of smoking, way too much booze, way too much tanning and the normal middle age spread, well things ain't what they used to be. She didn't get it, thought she was still all that. She was kind of pathetic and I ended up feeling really sorry for her.

My wife, to skinny and under developed to make the cheer leading squad in school. Still scrawny in her 20's but now, in our 50's...well she looks great. Always will,

I don't care about football or anything, but I did watch the first few minutes of the Super Bowl and was thinking to myself that my grandmother could do a better job of catching a ball.
