Maybe everyone is too distraught over losing in the World Cup to post.

Just kidding, who really cares.

Hi,

Well, I have been running the old M wheel tractor cultivating, and the 5103 mowing. The 420c has been parked since finishing up the spring road work.

I have some brush swatting to do next cooler spell with it, though. The edges of the woods along the fields have choked up with crap again, as it does every spring. I wait for summer, then run the dozer between the trees pushing the crap back. But, too hot this week. The nice thing about that job is it has no priority. ;)

Hi,

Oooh! My uncle, the one who had the dealerships, was a real trader. He wound up with a Weasel at one point. An amphibious crawler like thing. Went ok on land, not too good on open water, but in the swampy shallow water - it would Go Good! ;)

I bet a bare crawler with floats would be - interesting.

My grandson and I have been clearing a couple of 2 acre deer plots during the last couple of weeks. After replacing bottom rollers, new track adjuster, new seat, reconfiguring exhaust, changing all fluids and filters and general bolt tightening, my 350 straight is working really well. My grandson has taken an interest in the 350 and has been doing most of the operation. He has become very good at it and I am very pleased and proud of him. He's 16 years old and is playing varsity baseball, second base and pitching. Maybe the 350 will help keep him straight.

Well some of us have been busy. I now own the family farm. I'm the 2nd generation. Dad retired from the Army in 71 and bought this farm in 72. It was his dream for as long as I can remember, at least sense I was 4 or 5. I joined the army in 74, young man, wife and a son. I retired in 96. I worked a few jobs sense but really didn't need the money. Not that we had a lot extra, but enough. I got tired of dealing with tenant farmers and decided to forgo a crawler for the time being to farm the place myself. Not a big place by any means but dealing with livestock (cows, mine, chickens, hers, rabbits to eat) and about 80 acres of cropland this years has kept me busy. It was plow, rain, plow, rain. Finally got finished plowing and started to disk. Got about 15 acres done and locked up the bearings in a gang. Went to get parts, shafts NLA, blades, NLA, bearings 300 bucks a piece. So with rain and breakdown delays and searching for parts online, then finding a replacement disk......with parts availability well that ate up time. Then first day back in the field blew a coolant hose and was down 2 days waiting for it to come in. back in the field and planted hay. Then started disking the wheat ground. got that done and the wheat in. Then it was first cutting hay and breakdowns and more first cutting and more breakdowns. Did I mention that all my machinery, except the haybine were paid for cash up front? Trying to stay out of debt. But I went to the bank to plant a crop and a haybine. While finishing up cutting the first hay busted the front axle of my big tractor (1206 Farmall, look it up on tractordata.com) then it was repairs and back to bale. I did the last of my baling first cutting yesterday. Now in between that was helping a son's family move, doing some brush cutting for the MIL, repairing another sons car, grandpa's daycare and dealing with a DIL who has some pretty bad mental issues. Add in a couple of weeks with 3 grand sons, 5-11 with one being a downs kid and if I post on here, a site that I'm greatly interested in (love dozers and the very first one I got to run was an MC, I'd love to fix that but family and farming has to come first) it's because 1. I can contribute (not likely not owning a JD dozer or any other for that matter) 2. there is something I want to add to. I try not to bother you guys unless I think I can help, like with my insurance post, I'm a former adjuster, one who passed the test in MN to be independent, not an easy task. But you guys, the owners are the experts on crawlers. I want one, it's been a life long dream. I could use one here on the farm. But right now not a priority. Small, with a 540 PTO and a cat 1 3 point would be fantastic! As far as posting, well I 1. try not to bother you owners too much and 2 sometimes just don't have the time. If I had a small dozer/crawler loader, with at least a 540 PTO I'd be posting pics of what I was doing with it! of course I could bore you with pics of an IH/Farmall, JCB 3CII TLB or Ford 8N doing the deed but I don't think that's what you want. Recreation? I've been able to go fishing 4 times this year

Rick
