Nice 1010 Dozer
Nice 1010 Dozer
I purchased this dozer for $500.00 and drove it onto the trailer. The guy can't get to run - the plug wires were on wrong. During overhaul he got the distributor in wrong causing the problem. It don't look like this - it was a major restoring project last winter. Three-quarters of the frame bolts and the blade mounting bolts were broken off. But the sheet metal was good, everything was there. I have put over 200 hours on this machine just this summer doing odd jobs and loaning it out to friends. Its the best stress relief around. Nothing like moving dirt. Would like to get a six-way blade for this dozer, any thoughts on that?
1010
Great looking machine! I had a 1010 with a power 6-way, they are a good thing. By far the nicest thing I found was the ability to change the angle right from your seat. The tilt was good when working with loose material but I found the crawler just isn't heavy enough to make it useful otherwise. I found the crawler would drift alot in hard ground. Also, it gives the crawler a little different look as the power 6-way is an inside frame mount.

Thanks to all for the postive comments on my 1010. Thanks for the comments on the six-way blade. I would love to get my hands on a six-way blade for this 1010. Anyone want to sell? Or maybe a whole machine with the six-way blade? I got the bug for this yellow JD equipment.
#35 Ripper Pictures
Here it goes, the first time I posted pics, hope they are sized right and don't take up to much space.
I got new shanks as shown, they are for a JD grader but are the same specs as the original ones that are no longer made. I still need to make the 1/2" keeper pins which should be easy.
The ripper is in good shape except I need to rebuild the cylinders and there is a crack I need to weld in two spots on the mounting plates.
Hope this helps "SmallTime"

Thanks for these ripper pictures. A few questions on that ripper. What is the total width and what is the spacing of the shanks? Does the crawler handle it well or is tough going using a ripper? Boy, I wish I had one too. Nice additional to a crawler. And one more point; it is 20F degrees with snow falling in the thumb of Michigan.
The total length of the tool bar is 48". There is a center hole, then one 12" to each side of that and then one 9 1/2" to each side of those, 5 positions total. You can run the shanks up to 15" deep. I only have 3 shanks, so I have never filled up all five to see how it pulls. In sand, you can put 3 shanks, probably no more, all the way down and pull ok on level ground. On a dry hardpacked clay road, forget about it, you could only go about 4-6". If you waited till about 2-3 days after a decent rain on the road, you can go down 12" on level ground.
