1959 JD 440 IC w/ 602 blade
Still have lots to do. Actually, I don't think we ever really finish doing stuff to them.
This is the latest update. Now mechanically sound. Engine starts, runs, and pushes great. Under a good load, it will putt down to where you can count the strokes.
I went through the carb, adjusted valves, replaced all rubber hoses, rebuilt generator & starter, changed to 12 volt system, built a new wiring harness, added rear light, cleaned out gas tank, added new gas bowl, added radiator baffles, replaced thermostat, added a tach and all working gauges, replaced the cork in the throttle friction, etc.
Most of what is left is painting, detailing, adding a few original parts, adding battery doors on both sides, original seat, changing tracks, replacing one bottom roller, etc. (I don't think I have room for the complete list.)

Thanks, I was very lucky to locate this one.
As you probably know, JD made the hood sheet metal much heavier on these than other crawlers and tractors of the same time. It was part of the heavier duty "Industrial" models.
Someone took pretty good care of this one compared to many that I have seen. It had a number of small things that needed doing but nothing major.

I believe the JD "Old Construction Industrial Yellow" is correct. (TY25679)That is what I am using.
Pricey (now there's a surprise ) but pretty decent paint from a spray can.
