A 6 way blade is a big advantage if doing more than just pushing material. You could put a blade on your loader frame.

This picture shows my 440IC 831. It has a fork lift attatcment that has the manual 6 way blade from a model 63 dozer adapted to it.



This picture shows a 420 crawler loader with an outside blade operated by the loader hydraulics



I have a 440Ic 831 with a blown engine that will get a 2-53 swapped in and mounts for a 602 dozer added. It will be like the 420 shown above.

Nice!

It is 30 degrees here today and yesterday in NC with high humidity and a Duke's Mixture precip. So, I am doing a different kind of dozing.

Warmer than usual weather continues here in the west.

After sitting for 4 years with the left final drive apart, I finally got this 440ICD 602 3 point hitch back together in November. It has Berco 350 rails (chains) and weld on sprocket rims. The engine is upgraded to “N” series parts. It is a strong runner.
We have put 15 hours on it fixing a few oil leaks and other minor problems. Will be moving it 60 miles to my cousins place so she can fill in and level up around here place.

Grandson was visiting over spring break. After we got done fishing he got a couple hours more practice on the 440.

Thanks to all with the nice comments. I have 3 grandkids. They have all rode on, operated and helped their grampa enjoy his old equipment. My father in-law has been living with us for a year, he was a road builder for many years, 89 and still a good equipment operator. I have 4 working 440’s and 1 more that will be in the future. Unfortunately by the end of next year most of the work I have for them will be done and it will be time to start thinning the herd. My dad had a 420 loader/ backhoe and then a 440 831. I got to help remove and install a rebuilt engine in the 420 when I was 10 then spent the next 59 years working on a lot of different equipment.
There are some very knowledgeable people on this meassage board it’s great that they are willing to help others repair and enjoy their
John Deere crawlers.
