Crawler Bling.A Harley muffler on an MC? How about a Thrush?
Crawler Bling.A Harley muffler on an MC? How about a Thrush?
Tried to find a decent size small muffler for the MC, went to all the usual AG stores, finally found one that fits with an adapter, into the original stuck, cutoff flange piece, and it works fine, but is just a plain old muffler. Then I remembered that I had a set of Harley mufflers from my motorcycle riding days, and thought I would see if it would fit, and it's perfect! 1.75" ID goes right over the adapter, and it is quieter than the AG muffler. So what do you think? Ag or Harley muffler. We will be restoring and painting the machine this summer, original color scheme. Too much bling?

considering I've seen JD parts on a Harley,, it's justified.
watch out thou,, if it starts dripping oil after you park it you'll have to change it back.
p.s.-what is that in the background? a Polish tire swing?

Well it's dripping antifreeze but that's another story for the tech forum...pop pop wrote: if it starts dripping oil after you park it you'll have to change it back.

No, it's not a Polish tire swing, but a carefully balanced anti-resonant pole damper for my wind turbine tower. The spare ATV tire coupled with a long chain was just the right weight to damp out a harmonic at low wind speeds, it worked and I haven't put in a more permanent solution yet. Too many crawlers to tinker on.

Hi,
M is Thermo Siphon, so no water pump. Just two hoses and the radiator.
Hmmm. Polish dampener, eh? Temporary Measure, you say?
Well, one of my quotes is "There is nothing quite as permanent as a temporary measure.".... True. So true.....
In this case, it goes along with If it ain't broke, don't fix it....

Thanks, yes, pretty simple...but the leak is coming from a crack in the head, which has been repaired at one time, on the front of the head, vertical. It looks like it has been welded, shiny gold color smooth weld, but it's leaking underneath that. Tried some Iron Tite last week and it seems to be helping, worse when it's cold and once it warms up, seems to stop. I don't know how much that substance will move around without a water pump. It is a thick liquid.
cheers

Hi,
Yeah, the crack closes up when warm. Check you have a Zero Pressure and vented cap in the Rad. Should be No PSI on an M, and they often get more modern caps, which slows the thermosiphon and, in this case, would make the leak worse....

And here it is after I removed the old battery bracket from the fender, relocated the battery to it's original spot, and mounted the hood and took off the Jason goalie mask. Looks pretty good for 60+ years old. Waiting for the manuals to arrive then get into the steering clutch adjustment...and that's about it.

Found this in the shop, a Thrush glass pack...same fit, little bit louder as it's a glass pack, but you can really hear the pop pop now.

Hi,
There you go! Cherry Bomb! Classic!
You need to add some flex pipe to the end, though. We all know Cherry Bombs have to be used with Flex Pipe. It is a tradition!
Hey! Red and Green. Hang a wreath on the grill and call it a Christmas Ornament!
