Hi,

Doesn't look like a rim sprocket, which is needed for the different pitch 350 chains. But they are 4-bolt pads, so I say 440....

I know 1010 had four bolt pads, were they introduced during the 440 production?

Hi,

Yes. They show up in the 420/430/440 parts catalog. I think they were optional, but may have become standard right at the end of 440 production. I would have to check the catalog for a serial number break point (if they had become standard that is how one would know).

I have seen a few 440s with 4-bolt chains. Most have 2-bolt.

If you look at a the revision date of your 420 or 440 parts catalog, it is something like 1963, after the 1010 came out. At that time the 4 bolt chains were added to the parts catalog as they would fit the older crawlers, but were never a factory item.
At one time, I had some factory preproduction photos of a 1010 on 2 bolt rails, wish I could find it.

Hi,

I think my PC is from 1962. So, yes, at the point where the 1010 had supplanted the 440 (the 1010 is not in there but it would have whatever part numbers from the 1010 which crossed back).

And, through the years, there would have been quite a few 440s which had wound up with new rails. So, someone finding a 4-bolt set to stick onto a poor old 420 isn't such an odd thought.

I kinda like that machine there. Resurrected with whatever decent parts they could dig up.

It amazes me how much I don't know about this thing. I know it has an extra pad, I was told on here they were from a 350 but that was just by the pad count, They didn't see any pics of it.
So your saying the rails and sprockets are from a 440?
I've never driven a tracked vehicle in my life. Can you tell?

420 and 440 sprockets are the same. Yes, in all likely hood it is 1010 rails, very common replacement, norally 36 links. Measure a pin, 1" is 1010, 1 1/8" is 350.
