New to me JD450C (I think)

Post by Dave D » Wed Feb 10, 2016 8:42 pm

Bought a 1974 JD450C or so I believe its a 450C this week. Just joined this message board and have been reading up as much as I can about what I have. First bit of confusion came when checking my S\N against the information on this site. 450CC-203454T puts it right at a 74 450 C. This site though says JD450C added a Turbo. I know this one has no turbo because its missing the pipe from the Air Cleaner to the intake manifold as I discovered when tracing some gauge wires. Anyway until I can figure out how to post Pics, this is the add-free video I posted to You tube. Engine tag 4219DT 02 301525T. Wondering if this non-turbo engine was a replacement? Chains, sprockets and one front idler well worn. Tranny rebuild (10,000 put into it?) Starts, Steers and drives nice.

nice looking machine, she sounds good too.
maybe the turbo went bad and someone removed and put non turbo parts in place if that's able to be done... cheaper than a new turbo, seen that done to case tractor before.
people do weird things over the years to old equipment.
