Re: fixing up the front yard
Good job on your canopy and risers. I watch videos of guys on older machines with no canopies clearing brush and knocking down trees and think about the time I was knocking down a dead oak with a D-6C and a widowmaker came down and hit my ROPS: one side member crushed down 2" and I had to use a tractor to get the 400 pound widowmaker off of the ROPS.
Wish I could figure out how to post pics and videos

Re: fixing up the front yard
I miss having ROPS on my bulldozer. I have it, and I can put it on, but it does not fit in my barn with it on and in the winter I store it in there to stay out of the snow, and to clean out the sheep barns.
But my skidder has ROPS and what a difference logging. With ROPS and Limb Lifters I can drive through the forest with immunity, but feel naked on my bulldozer. Getting slapped in the face with limbs is not a lot of fun, not to mention the potential for trees to come crashing down upon a man.

I have no intention of traveling to my grave in a well manicured body; instead I am going to slide into heaven with a big power turn, totally wore out with busted knuckles, jump off my dozer loudly yelling, Woo Hoo, another Shepard has just arrived!

Nice work in the front yard!
What are your opinions on the "forestry package". Mainly the pieces that were welded onto the R & L sides of the ROPS.

@Cuttingedge:
had same problem with my 450G with ROPS. 2" too tall to fit through barn door.Ended up building a modified lean to down one side wall of barn. Barn roof line was at 10' at the walls and on lean to I went to 13' height by barn then down to 11' height with a span to 9' between posts from barn out and 10' centers on 40' length. Used 6 x 6 posts and "H" trusses using 2 x 8's.Metal roof. Wife and I built it during a 4 day Thanksgiving holiday. Cost around $600.00 with all new materials.
Dozer now covered as well as a 19' travel trailer.

Re: fixing up the front yard
Thanks everybody
I made the canopy out of 2" sch 40 pipe and bent the pipe with a hydraulic bottle jack pipe bender (from princess auto).
I put handles on the back and ruining up the limb risers also lights and a grade/pitch gauge.
now my front yard has a 6+ percent grade away from my house. My sump pump used to run all winter the last 6 years now it hasn't turned on at all this winter.
