My little 440 ic jewel I have been working on, have it stripped totally down to bare trans case, so have been looking for parts etc
thinking maybe Santa may bring parts I need!!
I heard of a skeleton unit locally, went to see it, it was a loader, in its day, only loader frame, lift cyl’s, engine ( gas) no cyl head,
5 speed trans, reverser, ( lever at least) steering clutch inner housings, and dash board and gauges. Owner( tractor wrecker)
said if it had the special trans, it would have a little bolt on cover, above the ring gear( maybe someone on here knows about this special trans) but this one doesn’t , but he forgot it had a reverser so price jumped to $750. Ouch!!
I thought I would check serial #, because Lavoy had said JD made a little heavier trans after they increased HP by a whopping 10%, after diesel’s were available. Well I checked serial #, plate is still like new and just about fell over- # is 442171, my serial is
442172. I couldn’t believe it, so I took pictures and then checked when I got home and sure enough it’s 442171 one less than my serial #- I have never had that kind of luck, and to have it locally to boot, what are the chances of that!!

I am going to talk to Santa! It’s been there for lots of years, so don’t think it’s going anywhere soon!
But I am sure I will end up it!

Hi,
Oh, yeah! You are going to buy it. Have to, being sequential serials. That will eat at your mind. Consume you, it will. Like the Dark Side of the Force!
Oh, you will buy it for parts. Then, you won't be able to stand it. You will have to fix it. Return it to life. Buy more parts. Buy more parts machines. Wind up with a yard full of Deeres. Tell your wife they are Art!
Yep. Your Fate is Sealed.
Or, is this ???
But, Hey! It is a Cheap Crawler!
