My 1500 dollar 440IC
My 1500 dollar 440IC
Well here's my new toy, cost me $1500 dollars and a few bucks in gas to haul her home. My 1 ton Dodge hauls her real well and this is a plus!!
Started to tear her down a few days ago. Got the blade off and one of the tracks which are badly worn. I will post more as I go.

Wrenchhead,
Congrats on purchase of your 440IC. Looks like most of it is there and the price was right. I also have a 440IC with 602 blade, 4 speed, no reverser, had a inopertive winch so I removed and added pto, sprocket shields, deluxe seat, hr meter, dual hydraulic control. According to serial # and chart on this website mine is a 1960 vintage.
Does yours have the following:
reverser?
pto?
4 speed or 5 speed?
daul or single hydraulic control?

Blade Supports
Here's a photo of the hack job done on the track frames. The bolts broke so they took and welded the blade supports onto the track frames.
I guess this whole project will take longer than I thought.
And notice the bent up, or should I say DOWN! Track tensioner spring.
And thank GOD for Crawler Heaven and Lavoy!!!
Don, Yes I have a PTO but no 3pt, I'm looking for one but the funds and wife will have to permit.
Same goes for the reverser sure wish My 440 had one.
I'm not sure of the number on my blade but I think it's a 602.
I have a 4 speed tranny.
And she is a singleton on the Hydraulic control valve.
She is a 1958 early model 440IC and the ser# is 441958
looks like I'll never foget the year because it wound up right in the serial #

Track Tensioner Sping a closer look
Well here's a closer look at the somewhat cresent shaped track tension spring. I didn't notice it until I took the cover off it and pressure washed the six inches of dirt out of it. I got one coming from Crawler Heaven
Its going to take some work to fix this.
Here's a pic showing the torn out metal on the Right Track Frame.
I looks like the blade support loosened up at one point in time and whoever owned the old girl just kept pushing dirt. And then broke out the arc welder to keep her running.

Right Track off
Smiley face for the day The right track is off.

Brian,
It looks like you have your work cut out for you (no pun intended). By the way, what's the lever on the right side of the console? Was that hooked up to the reverser at some point? Do you not have a reverser or is it not operational? Just curious. Good luck as you go.

Brian,
Nice score.Looks like someone put 40c sprockets on it at one time. That
is not surprising.Between their age and the abuse that these things have
seen it is amazing any of them are even around for us to fool with. Good
luck.JimAnderson
