I think it is like 3 3/8", it is a common dimension, should bolt right in your 2010. There are different gear ratios, don't know how to tell what you would need though. I spun a factory two cylinder tach with a drill, and then spun this one, and they read the same. I had another NOS tach out of a semi that I put in one crawler, but it read 200 RPM slow, so it was a different ratio.

Good question Stretch, I was just going to ask the same.
I've got a 2010 Diesel Crawler needing a new Tach.

So how about it Lavoy? They got a Tach that will work on the 2010?

Oh yea, we'd have to look at direction of rotation also.

Just checked with JD and the original AT17449T Tach is not available.

So, I guess we need an original 2010 tach (working) to compare to.
Any volenteers out there?

I ran the crawler a little bit today, to see how the tach worked. I checked it against my phototach, and it is dead on the money. If rotation and gear ratio are the same, there should be no reason this would not work in a 1010 or 2010 as well.

Okay, here is a recent pic, track frames installed, and the engine runs. Tested everything for function and then took it out of the stand. Right now it is sitting on the floor waiting for the dyno to get rolled in tomorrow.

A little more recent pic, on it's wheels, and moving under it's own power in this pic. Loader has been installed since this pic, will post more later.

The pump is in the same basic location as yours, but is a factory mounting and different grille so it all fits.

Looks GREAT

Post by jdjoe_indiana » Wed Jul 11, 2007 9:51 pm

Lavoy,

Very nice job. I am so jealous looking out the window at my rusty "prize", waiting to get redone. If you don't mind me asking how much do you have invested in this restoration? I am more interested in parts and supplies and not counting your labor. I want to know how to budget. I know you indicated that getting tracks reworked is close to $1000. What do the new rollers cost? If you would rather not post, could you PM me. Again terrific work! Thanks Joe

It can really vary depending on how good the crawler you start with is. A rough guess on a loader crawler is going to be $6000 and up as far as parts. Add in some bad undercarriage, bad drivetrain, or some other large components, and you can add another few thousand in a hurry. Even doing a lot of the work yourself, you still can get a thousand dollars in painting and sandblasting.
Keep in mind, that this is assuming a ground up restoration starting from an empty transmission case, and building a crawler from there with all components rebuilt.
New rollers are all over the scale. I am trying to develop another source for them as we speak, but $130-$150 apiece for new sealed lifetime rollers is going to cover most brands. Most likely they will have 9/16" bolt holes instead of 1/2", but that is not a really big problem.

Here is a pic with the loader and scarifier installed. Sorry I have been slow getting pics up, but not enough hours in the day.

Lavoy,

Looking better then new, nice work. Now all you need to do is get rid of the heat and test it in 12 plus inches of snow!!!!
