Shed completed for 440s and other JDs

Start of clearing the area for the new shed.


Area cleared and prepped.


All 16 poles are ready to be set.


Poles are set and cross bracing is on.


Rafters are on.


Shed is completed with some equipment under cover.

Shed looks great, so does equipment. How far in the ground are those poles ???

Thanks for the kind comments. I will have another picture showing all 5 JDs in the shed soon.
The poles average about 18 inches in the hole.
The design works well, the poles really only need to hold up the weight of the shed, so putting concrete in the holes and digging real deep is not necessary.
My dad built one this same way 35 years ago and it has not moved.
Like some, I did not truly understand how smart he was until he was gone. Lucky for me, I was able to retire early and spent time with him. Nothing could replace that time.

That looks like a good cheap shelter . My building inspector would have a hart attack though.Maybe just build it back in the bush and when he notices I will tell him it was always there .You didn't notice it till now!!. Yes a rustic little shed for the old girls to sit in would be great .Digitup.

Thirty-five years is way plenty for me to be convinced that it's a good design. Time with Dad was always good here and missed now, too. Although it is not Ha Ha funny, it is amusing how Dad always seemed to have the right answer for my dumb questions and they still hold true. Don't forget the pics when you get to it.
Oh, by the way, the "It was always there" 'explanation', which I use too, is of doubtful acceptance by the current generation of code and zoning inspectors. Hint--- Always pre-date any concrete floor pours with the earliest date you can imagine and in an early 'hand' (read-scrawl)!!

I guess I'm lucky- I live in a rural county with no building permits or inspections required for private residences.
