hi guys, heres a few pics of my 1010 playing. cant wait till next year. think i might try a 4 bottom.

I enjoyed the pictures. I would like to see what your 1010 would do with a 4 bottom in that soil.

hi chuck, thanks for the comment. i was able to pull it in 3rd, but i think i would have to use 2nd for a 4 bottom. only problem is the plow tends to rip the big rocks out instead or riding over them like on a tractor.

Andrew, Thanks for the pics. The 3 bottom picture is awesome, but a four bottom may require a 'kite' on the diagonally opposite corner to keep ya' go'n straight ahead! Go for it !!! (We'll all be wait'n for the 4 bot. pics.)

Truly a good show of the power of that 1010 .Years ago the JD dealer told me that a 450B had 14x the traction of its rubber tired green cousin with 6x the flotation of its green cousin and unlike the tractor has pound for pound tractive pull capabilities and most crawlers didn't even have pound for pound tractive pull like the little Deeres at that time I think the M through to 450 E had the best tractive pull .The new 550 Js of mine would just work till hot then whine a lot.I think that I defiantly would use a three point hitch plow as it will add draft to the tractive pull .Somthing more than a strong side wind from the right may be needed to go in a straight line though .looks like you cant hook that 4 furrow up fast enough .Good luck and lots of photos please ..Digitup.

I love to see the soil rolling over like that! Maybe with the four bottom you'll need an "on land hitch"

How wide is the track gauge on your 1010C (center to center) a lot of those JD 3 point hitch plows are designed to work on a wheel tractor with the tires at six feet center to center.

the plow operators manual will often give you the proper spacing from the centerline of the tractor to the inside sidewall of the tire running in the furrow.

All crawler plows are meant to be on-land, continuous use in furrow will burn the rails and rollers off in short order. Dad had a TD9 IH for many years, he pulled 7-14s in 2nd if I remember correctly. It was gone before my time, but I have seen the pictures, and I think I remember one of the plows being around when I was younger.

Any crawler plows that can be pulled with the drawbar? The 420 would be an awesome plow machine but for the lack of a 3-pt hitch.

ray, i would think any older trailer plow would work behind a crawler. i had a 444 that i used on my 60, and the hitch on the plow would offset. deere did make a special 3pt plow just for the crawlers that would allow both tracks to remain on-land, but i have never seen one or seen one for sale. i will try to find the info i have on them.
