CONTROVERSAL John Deere Lindeman BO crawler

Post by Ray » Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:10 am

Because this is a John Deere " enthusiasts" website, and I do not want to offend anyone who "bleeds green". I'm going to ask before I post any photos.

I have a 1945 Lindeman that IS NOT ORIGINAL.
If you would rather I didn't post a non original Lindeman, then I have no problem with that and I will respect your wishes.

Ray,

Lavoy owns this site so he would have the first and last word. However, I hope you find that everyone on here respects the others likes and dislikes when it comes to JD crawlers.
It is apparent already on here that some like them as original as possible, while others enjoy getting them running and using them.
This is the same with tractor collecting. You find some that want alternators, others that demand the original generator, slow as they may be to recharge a battery.
Please post your pictures.

I agree.
My machines are mechanically restored (or at least in the process) but still in their work clothes and being used.
I just bought a 440IC with an alternator. It is working fine so I'm not going to change it, even though it is not original JD.
I say post your photos and those who don't like what they see don't have to look.

I really have no problem with anybody posting any crawler related picture, modifications or otherwise, with one qualification. Where I get sideways with guys is when they post a pic of their crawler with deck plate fenders, an alternator, a 12 volt winch, pick whatever add on you want, then they try to tell me and/or the rest of the world that it came that way from the factory. I operate under the assumption that you paid for it, it is your business what you do with it, not mine. I have never professed to know it all about crawler, but this ain't my first rodeo either. Feel free to post your pic, I know everybody likes to see pics of crawlers, one more can't hurt.

I would like to see pics of that lindeman as well, the fact that you used it as a working machine is cool to me,better than it rusting away in some field somewhere.
I bet they would be great for harvesting maple sap for sugaring, they are so light and turn quick,go almost anywhere in the woods.

I'm not so sure about being light. Mine weighs 5,960 pounds.

It does turn sharp though. It will make a donut on the ground with the inside track.

I'm going to put about 8 photos up tomorrow. I'm working on getting them sized down to the correct size for loading, and figuring out how to describe it. Thanks for your interest. .. Ray

An impostor, eh?

Just kidding, another Raymond has to turn up now and then. Didn't think it would happen on a 1000 member site though!

Now hold on just a minute, buster. Are you trying to tell me that my 420's onboard GPS unit wasn't a factory item? :)

Ray III,

Maybe it was a "field" installed option? LOL

Lavoy,

I'm glad to hear you feel that way because I've just been dying to post pictures of my secret project; the completely factory restored Deere 437 crawler. This thing is completely factory original and is as Deere as a crawler can be.

Bill,

That cannot be a factory unit, the red is not the correct shade! LOL

Somebody has way too much time on their hands.

My parents were strange. They named all their kids with three letter names.

Jan, Joy, Jay, Kay, Ray. So you still get to be the only legal "Raymond".

Is this what would happen if I park my 440IC next to my Ford 850 and turned my back?
I better keep my eye on those two!

Bill,
Least you could have done was take the Ford emblem off the hood!

I would have but they apparently came from the Deere plant with the Ford emblems. The 437 was an unusual Deere crawler to be sure. You know me, nothing but a perfect restoration.
