Bought this old girl a year and a half ago as a project. Come to the conclusion that I had too many of these projects and decided to let her go.
Called one of the local JD repair dealer, and I sold the 40c project. I let it go for 800. About a week later I found a restored 40c with blade to the east of me for the tidy amount of 7000 dollars. Is this a realistic price for a 40c? bob

If you put a LOT of time into it then yeah.
I saw a 420 crawler in original condition sell for $15,000 on eBay, I think that was a bit much, but shows what people will pay.

I put more money than that in just parts into a restoration, so if it is a restoration, that is a bargain. I would be willing to be however that you are looking at a tune up and paint job, then I think that is way out of line.
