1010 sprocket

Post by stmftr395 » Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:02 pm

Hopefully the pictures I believe I have attached will appear. If not I will try again. The pictures are of one of the sprockets from the 1010 I am rebuilding. Both sprockets are evenly worn. I took pictures of the best and worst looking teeth. I plan to change sides so as to even out the wear. My question to the board, having no experience with crawler repair, is how badly worn are these sprockets and what do you think the expected life will be. Thanks to all for your thoughts and opinions. Mark Image Image Image

I'll let others weigh in on this, but sprockets are really bad when the tooth is sharpened to a point, right before they crack. Yours don't appear to have that kind of wear yet.

Life expectancy is tricky as it depends on the type of use it will go through (loading work versus dozing work, turning, etc.). I can tell you that sprcoket wear on my 2010 loader has gone much quicker on my machine than I expected, although my sprockets were a little more worn initially than yours appear to be.

They look all right. Watch how thick the material is at the shiny area, when it is getting thin or has chunks broke out of it (along with sharp teeth) it's done.
