Lavoy,
We must account for the $14,000 green ribbon and fancy bow that is hanging on the right side of the blade.

Agreed, but not so unusual to find an ad that may be strechting the truth just a tad in order to catch an unsuspecting or unknowing buyer.
For instance, you can have knee deep grousers on one, but without a thorough inspection of the entire drive train, there is no way to know what the real "under carraige remaining" is.
Also, how easy is it to find a unit where the tach stopped working years ago? It is without a doubt "low hours'" but that is on the tach alone, does not speak for the part that is most important.
But let's assume this one is what it is said to be, the price is so far out in left field, unless he is including a solid gold blade or something.

Great point, and I even missed the American flag that is attached to the hood.

All points well taken. You all may remember the story of my two 1010's I found in a garage a couple years ago. I'm supposed to be a professional restorer, trained in all aspects of used car sales. One of these machines had 2500 hours on it. It looked brand new all covered with the owners garage junk. I was so excited I bought them both for $5K. Well you know how this story ends. The hour meter wasn't wired. I was blinded by the deal. In my defense, it was still a fine deal. The other machine has 10,700 hours, a howling mainshaft bearing but new motor and new undercarriage. The "low hours machine is has a new Berco undercarriage and new paint. Both have some steering issues but work fine. With rebuilt injector pumps, some new bolts, general tightening and servicing, they operate great. I suspect the guy was innocent of tampering in this case. He'd installed an alternator and clearly did not know how to wire it. I don't think it had much use after that. The last parts receipt I have from him was dated 1988.
