My 1010's finally finished.....til next time

Love the site Lavoy, thanks for answering some of my questions in the past. I finally got the old girl put back together and going. Ive been pretty happy and havent had any major problems since I went through it. Most all the issues were broken bolts, loose finals, cracked final housings, bad rollers, shot hyd seals etc. Luckly it has always ran like a champ and the undercarrage is in good shape with the exception of worn grousers. It has 350 rails which actually have very little wear. I did a little welding and built up the sprockets and one of the front idlers, the other was replaced. I also built the cab and welded up a bunch of weak spots including some of the ram eyes and frame cracks.

This is definanitly been a working machine. I needed a blade really bad for accessing some remote property, (thats another story in itself) and just have to remind myself its 44 years old and have to take my time . Anyhow, just a few picts thought you guys might like.

nice job bringing your machine back to life,1010's are small but they can do alot of work for there size.
just take it easy on the ole girl and work her at an easy pace,like you said the machine is 40+ years old.

Thanks guys, it has been one of those projects that Ive just been picking away at for way too long. Its a relief to get it back where I need it. Ive finished putting in a road to our cabin but still need to do a bunch of clearing around it to keep the fire danger down. It also came in pretty handy for dragging and loading logs to take to a friend's mill. I welded a chunk of square tube to the blade and have another 6' piece that slides in as a boom for picking with.

I managed to do a little moose hunting between pushing and dragging but wasnt able to get one, maybe next year. Seems like hunting has been second to pushing stuff.............Ive really got some issues getting my prioritys in order

Awesome pictures,I really like the at work pics.,I picked up a 1010 track loader to clear some trails on my property most are 4"-6" poplar.After looking at your photos I think I won't have any trouble.

Thank you. Yep, its been handy. Ive found that I really have to pick and choose where I need to go when moving through the bigger trees. I have spruce, birch and cottonwood. The birch are the biggest pain since the roots are really tough and can travel out 20 feet right under the surface. Small spruce (10'') and under come down pretty good if you hit em a couple feet up and can tip them, any bigger and I had to dig down a bit and cut the roots, then they're not so bad. Good luck.
