Sugaring Pics

Post by JD430C » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:17 pm

Thought u guys would like to see how we tap and gather sap here in VT. This is the 3rd year i have helped manage the bucket portion of my friends sugaring operation. Friday and yesterday we put up 600 buckets. We would have put up more, but we ran out of trees :D. It was easy going, 6in or so of rock hard snow, so hard the crawler wasnt sinking in.

Heres a few pics from today, we figure we gathered close to 700 gallons of sap. Several buckets were running over. I was the designated crawler operator today and man did i have my work cut out for me. The 430 struggled when the gathering tank was near full. Should get better as the snow melts.

Nice PICS, looks like fun, especially on the 430 C.
I used to fly in to Manchester, NH, company had a manufacturing plant located there. Then, would drive to St Johnsbury (maple syrup), Cabot (cheese), through Montpelier to Burlington to spend the night.
One trip I drove north to St Albans to visit another one of my favorite treats. (ice cream)
