I just got this tractor. Does anyone know anything about it, or its value?

Farmall F-14. Note the raised steering wheel and shaft. F-12 would have the wheel and shaft lower and parallel to the top of the hood and fuel tank.

The steering shaft is from a Farmall F-14 however looking at the brake levers I see pipes added to them to give some extra height. This indicates that it is an f-12 the F-14 had the angled steering shaft and longer brake handles, both to improve operator comfort. I removed the farm added pipes from the brake levers on my F-12 and they are definatly more difficult to to get to.

the serial number plate should be located on the front fuel tank support it will give the serial number, modle number and rated engine speed. When everything is right these tractors will start with 2-3 puls on the crank. aftermarket parts are availibe and arent overly expensive. Not to mention the size makes them easy to work on, everything is pretty light and manigable.

The F14 we have has an odd looking doohicky sticking up in the middle of the hood with fuel lines running to it. The tractor is at the farm, or I would post pics.

Eats Dog Tails

Post by Pammark » Tue Aug 11, 2009 1:16 pm

I think the tractor is an F-12. I have one just like it. Note the open universal joint between the engine and tranny. Years ago ours belonged to the neighbor man. He alwys had large dogs and one day while the tractor was idling, the dog ran under the tractor and the universal grabbed the tail and ripped it off. I am sure the dog had a squeel after that. Well anyway, from then on we always said, "This tractor eats dog tails for lunch."

You can try points and condenser, beyond that, I have them repaired, there seems to be a little black magic involved with making mags work.
