Very cool Ken! Looks like you have about the same amount of snow we do, hopefully we dont get clobbered with what they say we might!

Do some research before you buy a hyd blower. I would guess your loader has a 15GPM pump, 23 GPM if it has the large pump. 15GPM at 2000PSI will only develop 20.5HP, 23GPM about 30HP.. I know a guy that put a 5' two stage blower on the front of a 420 and drives it with an engine. He started at 27HP, I think he is up to 36 now, and that is only a 5' blower. Granted you don't need to take a full cut, but the fan is the main power robber.
I have seen engine driven blowers that mount on the front of a pickup just like a snow plow, but they are pricey, and probably kind of scarce. Another option would be to mount an engine, pump, and reservoir on the back of the crawler and run hoses to the blower. The state highway dept has an old payloader with a setup like that on it. Older than the hills, but works great.

I think my dad has that same Fisher plow, even the 1/2" steel plate welded into the loader bucket (Ford tractor) for mounts. It's a good blade but that machine is probably capable of destroying it. If you are pushing something and it goes without much of a fight it should be fine but charging snowbanks will probably break something!

Your setup with the ball valves to allow manual angle is an excellent idea.

High production snow clearing

Nice work.

Since you have a loader machine and it might have a 3rd valve, you could:

- buy and old bucket for the mounting ears
- build a frame to accept the ears and add hydraulic angle function

We have this set up on our 350C crawler loaders. We used a 350 dozer blade to start with, so our attachement is fairly heavy, but deere crawler have the weight, power and hydraulics to run this type of set up.

We use the machine for clearing right of ways. A loader machine will push over a much large tree as it can push up high instead of down low like a dozer machine.

If you are interestered, i can send you some pictures so you get a better idea of what i am talking about.

Hi,

I like it! Pretty good idea there. I always had a crawler/dozer and a wheel tractor/loader so I never ran into the problem. I just switch machines as necessary.

As far as a hyd blower goes, here's another swiped idea. JD used to put a PTO mounted hyd pump on their 440's equipped with a backhoe as the engine pump was too small.

You could do the same on the back of your crawler, presuming you have a PTO shaft on it. Then, you can match your pump to the blower.

later!
