John Deere 317

Post by fixedforever » Thu Feb 25, 2010 6:18 pm

I just fixed up this 1980 John Deere 317 and cart, it works good now. The hydro on this tractor is nice. And I still need to find a deck.

Watch Ebay, sometimes there are even NOS decks on there.

I did the same thing with a 400 about 15 yrs back. Got it in a couple of large pieces and several cardboard boxes  It had a freshly rebuilt hydro and I put a new engine in (23hp Kohler). 2 speed gear box plus hydro. Tripple hyd, front and rear pto's.

It has a 60" deck, 60" mid mount hay mower. If you have to mow any road ditches, look for one of those!! I put a 3pt on it and have a 60" angle blade for it too. Not to bad for light snow work. And, I also have the same trailer you have

I will probably put mine up for sale this spring as I haven't really used it since I moved. the engine and hydro probably have under 100 hrs.

If you're buying one of these critters, put it in neutral and wind up the engine. It should not move. If it does, the hydro is starting to leak/wear out.
