Mini dozer...what is it?

Post by llcarey » Mon Oct 04, 2010 11:56 am

Hello to all of you JDcrawler enthusiasts. I am seeking your help because I've no idea where to turn. I am interested in selling a mini dozer that used to belong to my Grandfather. As much as I hate to part with it for sentimental reasons I don't like watching it sit idle and unloved either. The problem is my husband and I have researched it and have been unable to identify it and it's worth. The closest mini it looks like is an Agricat but we've been told there are things about it that don't fit the Agricat. It's been entered in a fly wheeler show near St. John's MI with still no identification. It did end up on the front page of a local paper there. It run's (after some work done by a gentleman in lower MI). I am trying to figure out how to attach photos for your input but I've been unsuccessful so far. If someone could tell me how to put photos on here I would appreciate it. I thank you in advance for your input. God Bless!

Hello, I thought it looks like a magnatrac, but I don't think the dozer blade matches. So it might have been added later or an add on. If it runs it is a nice machine. It looks like a wisconsin engine, is it? Good luck, Tom.

The motor is a Briggs & Stratton. I believe it's 8 hp.

Not a Struck, tracks are wrong. There is a tracklaying garden tractor site somewhere, sorry I don't know more.

It could be a home built using various commercial and home designed parts. For instance, the foot rest look home made.

A briggs, well I think the magnatracs of the time im thinking of had wisconsin engines, but i might be wrong. So its not a magnatrac. Still cool though. There is an auction barn north of me and the guy collects tracked garden tractors and regular garden tractors. Some of the tracked ones people have made look so good you would swear they came from a factory. But, they are one of a kind. Tom.

Hi,

I once had a first-generation Struck (magnatrac) and this is not the same at all. I have never seen a mini-dozer that looks like this, so I'm no help, either....

later!

Looks like an Agricat to me, slightly modified.

Looks like someone put a lift cylinder on it and modified the fenders. If you look at the engine placement, front track idler, and side frames, looks like a match to me.

Thanks for all the great comments everybody. Any suggestions as to how much we could sell it for?

The Internet auction sites are sometimes a good indicator of "value" or what the market will bear. Other times, they can be way off one way or the other.
If you know what you want for it, post an ad and see what kind of response you get.
There are always hawks out there looking to buy something real cheap to resale it. But, there are also collectors that will pay a reasonable price.

Thank you for telling us what you would be willing to pay. This is the first number we've seen. We seriously have had no idea what to set the price at. This gives us something to go on. Thank you!

I was at a consignment auction last week with a small dozer up for grabs. It went for $1,900. It had a briggs with hyd drives to the rear sprockets.
