Need info on my new to me army winch

Post by hugo » Mon Nov 22, 2010 4:15 pm

Hi

I´ve bought a winch from the USA army in an auction.

I thought it was an hydrolic winch.
It aint. Shoult have taken a look before bidding!!!

Anyway i was thinking of putting it on my jd 350.

Before i do this i have to know more of my new winch. Does anybody over there recognise the make an type?

Can i make it hydrolic?

Why are there 2 'pto' shafts? The big round one is turning, the small round with a notch is not verry willing to turn.

Anyway, here is my link for the photo's;

i really need any help i can get.!!

Thank,

It looks like a Garwood.

Have a similar looking winch here.
Its really slow and will pop 1/2" winch cable with no problem.

The small shaft with the notch should have a handle.
The handle engages/disengages the spool.

[The small shaft should only move about 45°]
