My dad and I picked up this nice 450C boom cat at Ritchie Bros in Edmonton this summer. Our intention was for resale with or without the sideboom attachement. Check out the nice undercarriage, dozer is nice and tight as well. Plans changed, I work as the controller at a pipeline company and we were short of sidebooms. Had to re-certify the boom ($600 fee plus new winch line) and fix one of the winch drive motors, install fire extingusher, 1 new battery and now she is out on the job site in southern Saskatchewan.

Sideboom
Man, that is too cool. Ritchie Bro. has some real good auctions. Very nice. I would not be able to rent it though, too afraid it would get hurt. lol
Ritchie Brothers puts on a pretty good auction if you keep in mind that their equipment varies greatly in condition. I have attended many of their auctions here in the Midwest, and have purchased several pieces of equipment from them.
Like any auction you really need to look over the equipment closely before you buy. For instance, I have watched them drive worn out forklifts across the ramps during bidding, spraying ether the entire time to keep them running. This isn't a problem when viewing onsite, but if you bid online it doesn't show a live video stream so you won't be able to see that.

440 Factory Boom
We have a 440 deere with a factory boom as well. This one will be staying in the shed, too small to send out any more and would not want anyone else to run it.

Just Finished Fixing The Rental Return
Not sure how our ace operators did it, but i just handed in a $1,600 bill for damage done to this once nice 450C. I only charged $75 per hour for labour and prices from Brandt Tractor for the parts. My dad had all the parts in stock so now I will have to replace them.
They must have been running it in high gear down the right of way, which resulted in the following:
1. Broken Exhaust stack, I had just put a new one on before it went out.
2. Broke the yoke on the end of the counter weight cylinder.
3. Cracked injector line #4 at the injection pump end, where the bolt eye transitions to the line.
4. Fried the starter, since it was only running on 3 cylinders and it was fairly cold out.
5. Left the key on and killed the batteries stone dead.
6. Broke the positive battery cable between the two batteries
7. Broke one of the radiator mount rubbers
Not sure I will be sending it out again. And my boss can't figure out why we don't make much on the bottom line. I know that most of our rented equipment comes back in this shape or worse, they tell me that is just the norm for the industry.
