Great detailed pics, "1pic worth a 1000 words and memorys".
I am in the process of going thru a 1010C, had to do same trick for my side frames- rollers and rock guards. broke off approx 80% of bolts trying to remove some broke off below hole. only trouble I had was the first attempt with WIRE feed welder every 1 would brake off (nut/washer). When used Stick welder every 1 came with ease due to Heat difference. Advise my Father passed on to me, He was welder/mechanic for many years wish he lived closer,He gets many Phone calls when things go bad!!! Ha' Ha'...

I worked a Bit on the engine yesterday as the temperature gave us a break. The block ha been rebored .045. I took the new parts that I ordered from Lavoy and did the plastic gauge test. All standard bearings everywhere. Sometimes it is near the tolerance but Always within.

I have some more bolt holes and oil passages to clean. I put some stp thick oil on the journals to keep them from rusting.
I was lucky to find a ''new'' camshaft gear with all his teeth. The original has several dental problems!
Reassembly will go on this week. Next is transmission.

Looking good iron popper.
Wish my 2-53 was light enough to put on one of our standard engine stands haha. That's one heavy motor.
Not sure how the gas 2 cyl. is weight wise but hopefully it's easier to work with.
Glad to see your able to work on the dozer. Lavoy e-mailed me and is boxing my steering clutch stuff up, so the next few weeks will hopefully be lots of progress.
If you get a chance could you give me a measurement of the brake rods?
I'm fabricating some and would like to make them as close to original as possible.

Did you manage to free your 1010 from these bolts?

Yes, all bolts removed and ran a tap thru bolts holes to clean,primed,repainted and side frames ready to go. Going thru the transmission at this point,will have to replace all bearing and seals. could not get 4th speed gear removed from shaft this weekend due to seized on shaft/keyways,have soaking in penetrant fluid and hoping for better luck next weekend. wish I would win the LOTTERY so would have lots of time and $$$$ to work/complete my dozer Ha'Ha''..

Hey Hebert,
you might try heating the gear slightly and I hope your using a press.
I was using a press and still cracked a gear putting it back on.

Have not tried heat and press yet, lightly tapping and a jaw puller. I was not to aggressive due to fear of damaging gear. I am hoping for better luck next try...

Yeah the 2-53 looks massive and heavier. I can move the gas engine block by hand for now. With the crankshaft in, my back begins to pry! Then I need my little shop crane. The flywheel adds quite a weight too...

I'm away from home for now. I'll check for the rod. I'm shure I have the brake pedal assembly. My guess is that the rod you're looking for is at the old man's place. I'll double check and come back too you.

Not sure what a 2-53 blocks weights but I can tell you that two grown healthy men have a lot of respect for one of them.
My guess is that a complete engine ready to install would be around 800 LBS. They are built like a tank.

Progress is slow because I'm always on the road for work. Last time the plastic gauge test was ok. I didn't care about the endplay then. When I torqued the main bearing caps, I noticed the crank was hard to turn by hand. No endplay... The new rear bearing wich acts also as a trust was scratched by the rotation. Supposed to be .003 to .007. Those aftermarket bearings are thicker than original I guess. So I took the decision to create the endplay. I bought a mirror and sandpaper sheets and worked the trust bearing till I get the endplay. The target was .005 I stopped at .006. Sanding is not an exact science! That took me a long time...

The next weekend I wanted to put the cam in and so on. But I noticed that the engine shop (where my block has been rebored) put the rear camshaft bushing backwards. The oil hole was not aligned with the oil passage... I knew a special driver was needed to press the bushings in. That's why I let them do it but... That also took me a long time to fix...

I installed the flywheel and a friend of mine (who works for Toyota) told me it was the worst flywheel he has ever seen. So I sent it to a machine shop and it will cost me 45$ to renew the surface. Better that than split the tractor again because the new clutch slips!

I placed the engine like this to install the clutch case. Then I will line up the marks to install and time the oil pump. After that I'll be able to finish the engine job.
