Anybody collect sales literature?

Post by Afzimm » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:40 pm

I collect sales bulletins and literature from John Deere equipment and other manufacturers. I like old Chevy pickup brochures too. Those of you who have caught the literature collecting bug know what I'm talking about. I was looking through my collection the other day and I ran across this 2010 crawler booklet. All these pieces are dated, which is probably why they are so collectible, they tell their own age. Here's a picture of the date code, looks like this was printed Sept. 1962. A couple of other pics from the booklet. Al Z

I never was really into the literature, but like crawlers, once you get started, you can't stop. With sales literature, service bulletins, Allied literature and such, I probably have a few thousand pages now.

I have been collecting these as well for the past 5 years or so. All have been purchased off of E-Bay and am now up to 3 large binders full of all types of deere equipment, plus a few caterpillar, komatsu, AC, cletrac, etc. have snuck in.

Like Lavoy said once you get started it seems to consume you.

I have been collecting all this type of literature on the 1010 series and all the attachments for the 1010 as well.

Hi Al-

I finally got to look at your photos, and you seem to have a different brochure than the one I have. However the "cut away" view in your second photo is very similar to the one I described in my brochure.

I have still been looking for that darn thing- found several other brochures but not the one I am looking for
