Thanks for the comments guys. I was going to buy a new hour meter but couldn't find one that the face was a match to the original.
Detroit dealer called yesterday, injectors came in, should have them by the end of the week. They tested the old ones and said they were no good. Apparently the little screens behind the inlet fittings were nearly completely plugged. They cleaned those and put some fuel to them and one squirted fuel but it was in a stream and the other squirted fuel intermittently. The bill was $250+shipping, little bit steep but I guess that's the price you pay for piece of mind.

Hi Ben,

I see you replaced the hardware in the rock guards. Nice! Where did you find these long bolts? I got 2 sets of rock guards from the old man. The spacers/bolts are missing though. My original rock guards were broken in many pieces with a lot of welds. I was thinking about using threaded rod but if bolts like this are affordable it might be the 1st choice.

I'm now on 21/14 shift (fly in/fly out) since I've signed a transfer from Quebec,PQ to Wabush,NL branch (same company). I guess I'll have more time to spend on the 440 and other projects as well.

I might have the bolts on hand, could check. The spacers I have made locally if you need them.

Yes I didn't even attempt to fight with breaking the old stuff loose, just torched them.
I actually got the carriage bolts at Lowes. The book specs 8 1/4" long. I could only get 8" or 10". I had the 8" and they seems a bit short so I got the 10" and will trim them off.
Dad made the tubes out of some standard black iron pipe I believe (could be wrong) and faced them off to the 6 15/16" the book specs. We test fitted the finished one and it fit pretty good. I didn't expect all the holes to line up perfect considering the beating these take.
Hopefully your project is coming along. I'm getting closer to paint but still a lot to do.
I really wish I had the garage space to buy a nice blast cabinet. I've been using a friends and it really slows things down having to find time to make it over there.

Thanks for the details. There are Lowe's only in Ontario over here I think. I'll see how much Lavoy asks for a kit.

I know what you mean by things slowing down because of traveling to other's... My crawler is now at 90% in the garage. I still have 1 or 2 loads to bring here, 10 hours trip each time with my small 2000lbs trailer! Keep working good on it! Your efforts will be rewarded soon.
