Thank you for the good comments.
I have felt several times that I was close only to find something that took more time or, I would not have the time to work on it.
It actually seems like it will be "screaming" in a few months.
I am using the wiring harness that I made previously so it is like new. Most of the "parts" are here somwhere. LOL
I am adding a new temp gauge and new friction disk to the throttle.
Past that it is simply a matter of bolting things back together, filling and checking all of the fliuds, and spinning her over for that first start.

Turned out to be a good day, got a lot more done than I thought I would.
Can you tell that I go for originality when possible?
Two age old arguements, "alternators" and "rubber hoses" on antique tractors.

Some more work done 2006! I spent a couple hours on mine today also. I Put the crank and the 2 pistons in today. I like to watch these rebuild stories such as yours, whiteclipse and Gus. Keep the good pics coming.

Yes the alternator arguement. I get harassed all the time for wanting to keep the generator on mine. It'll work just as good as the alternator if all the components are there and good.
These are great threads. You better get us some pics of your progress iron popper.

Alternators are fine for working tractors and for tractor jokeys selling one with "battery charges" claims.
Somewhere along the way metal tubes were replaced with rubber hoses for the fuel system and oil pressure on 440ICD's. Not sure if it was lower cost, availabilty, more forgiving, or a combination of the three.
The original oil pressure was electric sending units, so I can see how rubber hoses eneded up there.
