I would try to clean what I could without scratching the valves or seats. You do not want any of that to drop down on the piston after she fires up. It could cause serious damage. Spinning it over with the starter was risky, but when she is running, it will not take very much to tear something up if that stuff breaks loss and is not sucked out immediately.
A video of it firing up and running would be nice.

I'm not sure how your head is, but it didn't take much to pull the valves out of the head on my 440. I think it would really be worth it considering you have it all apart.
The thing I'm wondering about is; I could turn my 440 over by hand, when I decided to take it apart I found 2 rings on each piston stuck. I don't know if they would've freed up on their own or not but hopefully you don't have stuck rings.

I think I will remove the valves today and make sure the Intake and exhaust ports are free of the mouse stuff. I will be careful not to scratch the seats and valves. I ordered head and valve cover gaskets, arrive Wednesday. I have the injectors in being tested and cleaned, the starter as well, and I discovered a leaking hydraulic line under the battery box so I will get that replaced today. I am going to take a chance on the rings, I'm working on top of the trailer now and if it will need piston removal I would like to move it to solid ground where I can get it up on blocks. I will do a compression test if it starts, once it has ran for a bit.
Thursday is assembly day and I will video the start up and post it for sure.

I had the starter rebuilt, replaced everything, I could have done this myself however I had lots to do cleaning up the engine, heads and valve ports, installing new head gasket, and just going over this old crawler looking for loose bolts etc.

First we had to clear the injector lines....



Then a short video of getting some action but a new problem, the return fuel line is stripped at the injector pump body...



We decide to go for the start despite a leak at the return line. I will fix it properly later with metal epoxy, for now it is see if it starts...



I bought the crawler last weekend, and add...

Gas to haul the crawler home with my 500 cubic inch chevy...$200
