Deere Crawlers in the Snow

We havent gotten any decent snow here this year (or last year) but heres a pic from 2010 when we got hammered

Two weekends ago, my dad and I spent a couple of hours pushing snow.

He was on a 350C widepad Dozer and I was on a 350B Dozer. The C had a reverser rebuild last spring and the 350B was a widepad deconversion.

Both machines worked flawlessly. Mostly worked them in 3 rd gear as the snow wasn't that deep. My dad had to gear down to 2nd when pushing up a pile due to the wide Dozer where with the narrow track machine I could push up hill with no hesitation. You would have a hard time telling the B from a C as we did both steering clutches and they are very touchy on the controls.

Wished I would have taken some pictures. Fired up 3 other deeres that were burried under the snow.

My brother even had to fire up our 450G that we left at his acreage as the 1845c case Skidsteer we lent him wasn't getting the job done fast enough. He lives an hour away at the top of a hill and has double the amount of snow.

I cleaned all the snow off these Deers (my parts crawlers the 3 on the left) just before Christmas. We are having a good snow year!!

Last year the snow all winter added up to about 12 inches. All together this year we have over 3 feet already and March is often our big snow month of the winter. No wind has meant no drifting and smooth riding.

Out in the farm country south just a few miles the snow in the hollows is well over 4 feet of loose powder. 3 feet on the hilltops. Sledding has been awesome! Endless miles of hills and powder. We have not had a melting day since November so the snow has stayed dry and soft. The sled dealers are enjoying record sales.
The logging we did last year with the 350b and winch would have been near imposable now with this snow. We will go play instead. The lakes have slush under the snow on top of the ice. The weight of the snow has meant no trucks out on the Ice. It is about 14 - 16 inches thick (ice) under the snow despite weeks of -25 weather in December and January. We usually get 3 feet+ of Ice and most years, if you don't have an extension for your Ice auger you can not get through by now.
