Looks like a pretty decent machine. If it's a one owner then it's definitely been taken care of.
The sprocket rubbing could be out of adjust or bearing going out.

Question: Is that the original decal on the back of the seat? Reason I ask is because that decal is on the back of my 440. I've never seen another 440 with it though so now I'm thinking that the decal is for a 1010.

If the sprocket is hitting the roller, assume full rebuild on the final drive.

I have a parts 1010 diesel loader that runs and my friend is using it to feed horses. It smokes and misses (either damage) and has a poor final on the left side. I know about the final because the drain plug on the bottom has the square stripped out so I took it off to check the oil. Dry in there and the big gear is wobbly. otherwise it still works and you do not notice anything when operating it. Put oil in and he uses it a couple hours a winter. However, it has a brand new complete original undercarriage. I am thinking of moving all the best parts to the dozer, and putting the rest in the parts pile. A question....I have a parts 350 loader with brand new chains and dozer pads, will the pads fit the 1010 ? I thought I read somewhere that they do, but can not recall. Not sure if a 1010 is really worth the effort, I was looking for a 350 dozer to use them on when I came across this 1010. It is a nice looking 1010 in the picks. 10 hour round trip to get it but, good roads all the way.

I think what I would really like to come across is a nice 440 but I have never seen a single one here in Saskatchewan.

I will make sure to ask about that decal on the seat,

Post by JWB Contracting » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:45 pm

Just bring some of those non-runners over the border here to Alberta, I might a have 440 IC loader that could use a new home.

You must be up to 10 Deeres already!!

I got to 10 a while back and decided that is good enough for my hobby. Then I got busy with work and such. But that was the plan, collect a few then they can wait until I have more time to fix. I have used that winch crawler a lot, it has been a blessing with the forest and all. Using the now converted 450 dozer more including this weekend as. I have big brush piles to burn before the RM closes the fire season on April 1st. I am hoping the 3 feet of snow on them (I cleared the front away with the skid steer) won't keep them from burning completely.. The 2 piles are about 12 feet high and 16 deep by 50 long so once they get going there will be some heat there. Burned a few early on before the snow was deep and it went ok.

Also hope to get out for a short sled as we have lots of snow yet. Friends are coming up and they will put on lots of kms on the trails but, for me, I am weary of trail riding and mostly go for the powder. Now we have a thick crust on top where it is deep and last time out I wore the side decals clean off my MTX Nytro doing turns getting stuck(thank you bungee) and having fun. |this weekend I will stay home and tend the fires, and get in a little Deere time.

I an not ruling out sending this pile of iron out to Alberta if I cant get it inside before too long, my wife would let out a cheer for sure.
I am flush with loaders, plus my collection of Bobcats so, not anxious to get another. The only thing I have been selling is skid steer grapples, buy them at Richies and sell on Kijiji. Picking up 8 tomorrow from the sale earlier this week. Seems like everyone needs one.

Well I guess there's me and you for sure. I can't figure my grandpa or great grandpa would've ever wasted money on a decal, so I figure the stuff on mine was original. Hard to tell though.
Mine also had the word DIESEL above 440 on the front plates, but I think that may be wrong, that's how it was when I got all the parts though.
