JD 850 D: Trash the Dress

Post by CuttingEdge » Thu Sep 04, 2014 5:27 pm

I am new to the board, but felt "Show and Tell" would be the appropriate category for this crazy thing my wife and I did...and something John Deere Bulldozer enthusiast's probably would love to see.

For those that do not know, "Trash the Dress" is a newish thing where the bride after her wedding, rather than put her wedding gown in a closet where it would get eaten by moths or yellow; they take it out for one last spin, literally trashing it by doing a photo shoot in old buildings, clam flats, etc. In our case, being sheep farmers here in Maine, we decided after clearing 12 acres of forest land back into field land, we would do our "trash the dress" in thick deep mud and with a John Deere 850 C no less!!

We had a blast doing it, using the self-timer feature on the camera and a tripod to get the photos. We have done a few other photo shoots since then, but atlas not with bulldozers. (A railroad one set in the 1940's era, a boiler photo shoot, and a Little Red Riding Hood one). Here are just a few of over 60 pictures we took doing our "Trash the Dress" photo shoot, highlighting the bulldozer with these photos.

(Not the typical, "Look what I bought" photos, but I thought some of you might enjoy something a little bit different with bulldozer photos, but I hope you enjoy).

I should use my wife's as target practice..... Nice photos. Welding pic is the best. Nothing better than a chick with a stinger in her hand.

I know what you mean about wedding gowns...I should have wrestled two out of the closets of ex-wives just to destroy them out of spite. This one here is a keeper though, and must say; I am glad I went through the two others to find her.

We have a lot of fun though, as this picture shows. No bulldozer in it though, but it would have been nice as that old 1997 John Deere 850 D was a nice bulldozer and did a good enough job stumping out that field.
