Hi,
Yes, one box on the right side. One on the left seems to me like it would be a pain when it comes to getting on and off the machine.

Of course, make it how you want it. I was just adding my thoughts since you asked our opinions on the toolboxes a couple days ago....

Factory Detroit ones are around used, but won't fit real well on the crawler, you will really have to butcher the hood and change the air cleaner tubing.

Maybe I misunderstood, I assumed you meant the runaway valve like used on other applications that used Detroit's? Deere never used these on the crawlers or wheel tractors, so anything you find will have to be a cobble job.

Look around on ebay. I've saw a decent amount of 2-53 blowers on there that were from marine engines I think. They all had the air shutoff on them.
As Lavoy said, not sure how much modification you'll have to do to get it to fit under the hood though.
You could always take the approach that my grandpa used to. Put the crawler in high gear and bury the blade in the dirt

assuming you want an engine shut-off method,
rather than a air dam, why not a fuel rail lever to kill the fuel.
i think that was originally on some machines,???
(unless you loose a blower seal),
then, if you "fit" the intake cap so that in a pinch,
you can reach fwd and slam it down.

pop pop, the 440ICD is designed to be primarily shut down via the fuel rail shut-off. However I know my grandpa had issues with ours, it would start to run away and shutting the fuel off wouldn't help. He'd bury the blade in the dirt to kill it.
I can see why an air shut off would be nice.

yes they can be persnicketty devils, and always have kept in mind the chance of runaway.
govenor and linkage adjustments works wonders for alot of the questionable machines.
but i agree, an air dam would add peace of mind.
one of my current 1,739 projects is working on the gov. pump and linkages and while i am standing next to it doing that i have controlled/throttled the air with a small salsa can.
a deadkill butterfly in the intake shouldn't be too hard to do.
hmmm, project #1,740 ?
